Well, HELLO THERE.
You know at the start of the year, how bloggers often bombard you with their New Year’s resolutions, and tips for getting your new year off to a good start, and all that lifestyle stuff? Well, I was hoping to be well and truly on that blogging bandwagon, unfortunately for me, the wheels fell off before I had the chance.
This is the first time I’ve sat at my desk for exactly a fortnight. The first time I’ve been back on a computer. The first time I’ve really contemplated getting back to blogging, and to what’s basically normality.
To say the start of the year’s been a bit of a mess would be an understatement.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen I mentioned on my Stories (after a 12 day Insta-break that led to me haemorrhaging followers who couldn’t bear to stick around because I wasn’t posting daily) that my 2019 didn’t get off to the best of starts. I couldn’t go into much detail (let’s face it, who can in 15 seconds?) and so I said I’d ‘probably write a blog post explaining why’ – and here it is!
Basically, my poor Mum has been poorly. She ended up being rushed into hospital on the 2nd January. She was in hospital for a few days, and while she’s on the mend now (thankfully!), it’s been a very turbulent time for us all.
So, I never really thought about blogging much while all that was going on. It’s knocked us off our feet a bit, collectively. And so getting back to normal is taking time.
I had great plans for the start of the year. I was feeling rejuvenated and excited about making plans, I was brimming with blog post ideas, I was looking forward to making things happen.
And now I feel a bit weather-beaten, stressed out and exhausted instead. Just completely frazzled, really. Basically, the polar opposite of how you’re supposed to feel with all the ‘New Year, New Me’ bull that’s shoved down our throats at this time of year.
Instead of joining a gym, I feel like hibernating until Spring.
