Just a little post from me today, where I’m going to be telling you all about one of my favourite recent beauty buys: the NARS Velvet Shadow Stick in Hollywoodland. It’s one of those things that I threw into my basket on a whim during a recent ASOS spree, and I’m so glad that I did!

I’m a bit of a cream shadow convert these days. Having had iffy skin on my eyelids since my late teens, I have to be really careful about what kind of eyeshadows I wear, and how much I use them. Enter an array of different slightly kinder-to-skin cream shadows, including this one!
NARS Hollywoodland is a really lovely pale gold shade. (And I know that you can barely see it swatched on my pale hand in the photo above, but rest assured, it stands out more on my eyes!)
It doesn’t budge, in fact, it takes quite a bit of shifting, so a.) you can’t cry or sweat it off easily because it’s got such serious staying power, and b.) you’ll probably need to remove it with a good oil cleanser at the end of the day. It doesn’t crease either, which is another huge plus.
The thing I love about eyeshadow pencils is the fact that they’re easy to apply anywhere. If you’re in a rush and you have to apply your makeup on the train/bus/whatever (controversial, I know…) they’re so much easier to work with, and it saves you from faffing about with several different powders and an array of brushes. They’re foolproof, really.
I like to wear this alone, with a clumsy swipe of L Óréal Infallible Gel Crayon in Super Copper* along my upper lash line, which I then blend out. The coppery-ness of that eyeliner coupled with NARS Hollywoodland really compliment one another. It takes less than two minutes, and lasts all day! (And I can definitely do it on public transport without messing it up or getting too many funny looks.)
I know that NARS isn’t the cheapest of makeup brands, but I think that you can justify it if it’ll save you time, effort, or the stress of trying to juggle three different powder shades in a rush.
All in all, it’s a fantastic eyeshadow that I’ve been reaching for quite a lot over the last few weeks! If you fancy trying it too, you can find it on ASOS for £22 by clicking here*.
