In all honesty, I’m not entirely sure how we’re in SEPTEMBER already, but here we are. 2020 has been a whirlwind up to now, hasn’t it? (Not in a good way, though.) Anyway, enough rambling, here’s what’s on my to-do list this month:
Low Buy September
This year has been a catalyst for getting my head out of the sand and for finally taking an interest in my finances; after several years of palpitations every time I opened my banking app and feeling guilty anytime I bought anything, even the stuff I needed.
So, as I mentioned, I thought it was time to challenge myself further by abstaining from any spending except for essential things. Next month, though.
This month, I’m going to attempt to be more sensible with money by doing a ‘low buy’, whilst saving the more extreme ‘no buy’ until next month. Seeing as September is a big month for me with lots of big annual bills like my car’s MOT and blog hosting renewal, it didn’t seem wise. I’ll get back to you with how I get on…
Embrace Autumn
To be fair, it’s already been feeling like Autumn for the past week or two, hasn’t it? Storm Francis pulled a lot of leaves off the trees early, and he battered my windows with rain and gales as I was trying to sleep, so I’ve gradually found myself slipping into ‘Autumn mode’. Y’know, donning the odd chunky knit here and there, lighting more candles, and just generally cosying up. Instead of opening my curtains and wishing for sun, I’m just embracing the mist over the valley in the mornings and dozing off to the sound of drizzle pitter pattering away at my windows at night.
I was doing ever so well at the start of the year. During the first five or so months of this year, I was reading one book each week. (See!) But, with everything that’s been happening, I just royally fell off the reading wagon. While I’ve tried to hurl myself back onto it during the Summer months, it just hasn’t happened. I genuinely haven’t been feeling it. It normally means that I need to read something new and interesting that I won’t be able to put down to rectify one of these dry spells, so if you have any recommendations, please leave them in the comments!
Document Autumn
You know I love the colours in Autumn. I’ve banged on about that enough over the years, but I haven’t been going out with my camera very often over the past few months. (Granted, it seems a lot of people round my way have forgotten that there’s a pandemic cracking off, and that social distancing is necessary… which doesn’t exactly make you want to go out unless you really have to.)
But, this year, I’d love to go out with my camera and document Autumn descending on the Peak District. The golden colours bursting over the hills, the pretty villages slowly turning amber, and the vistas fading from green to titian. I’m aiming to do some videos of the places I go to for TikTok as well, so you get even more of a look at and feel for the places I go to.
